Management in Action

Here you will find nearly everything we’ve written, and video clips of some of what we’ve said in recent years about the many aspects of managing an organization, from creating a vision, to hiring the right people, to growing through M&A, and many of the blocking-and-tackling drills in between.

We look at making strategy, avoiding merger pitfalls, and motivating your team. We talk about what leaders do right (and wrong), how strategy can be simplified, and why most budgets actually undermine an organization’s success. There are also sections about surviving and thriving in the global marketplace, economic trends that feel (to us) like they matter, and the whole issue of governance.

We encourage you to "wander" and see what interests you and what feels relevant to your situation. Each idea, we hope, will make your own management approach more informed, fun, and effective.
